Description
The legendary sci-fi universe of Alien 8 arrives natively on the Amstrad PCW series thanks to an outstanding porting and technical preservation effort by HabiSoft in this year 2026. Based on the original 1985 machine code developed by the Stamper brothers for the mythical Ultimate Play the Game, this conversion squeezes the shared architecture of the Z80 processor to deliver astonishing refresh rates and crisp clarity on the monochromatic screens of the PCW environment.
In this space odyssey, we take control of Alien 8, a small cylindrical maintenance robot whose primary directive is to ensure the survival of the cryogenically frozen passengers ("Cryonauts") aboard a gargantuan interstellar starship. The central computer has suffered massive power failures during its colonization voyage, and life support systems are shutting down. Your mission is to navigate a non-linear map of 129 interconnected industrial rooms to collect and manually slot life support valves and cores into their correct terminals before the countdown timer reaches zero.
The heart of the game stands out due to the use of the Filmation I engine, one of the greatest technical milestones of the 8-bit era. This system projects a real isometric perspective environment with advanced gravity physics, jump inertia calculations, and precise three-dimensional collision detection. To progress, the robot must solve intricate geometric puzzles by interacting with room objects: pushing heavy cubic blocks to bypass electrified pits, stacking cylinders to reach high platforms, or dropping pyramids onto pressure plates to deactivate hostile sentinel drones.
HabiSoft's port not only preserves the demanding gameplay and logical mechanics of the original classic with total fidelity, but also brilliantly adapts the video memory layout to the hardware addressing of the Amstrad PCW 8256, 8512, and 9512. A true work of software craftsmanship that does justice to one of the most influential titles in gaming history, now fully playable with the convenience of floppy disk storage and system auto-booting. The survival of the colonists is in your circuits!

Survival Hints and Strategies (Verified)
• Logical Object Management: Alien 8 only has four physical inventory slots. Since life support terminals require inserting cores with matching geometric shapes (cubes in cubic bases, pyramids in pyramids), plan your block transport routes from the storage areas carefully to avoid making unnecessary trips.
• Jump Inertia Mechanics: The Filmation engine calculates gravity and acceleration diagonally. To bypass dangerous mechanical beetles and moving magnetic mines, you must start your run one square before the edge of the obstacle and keep the jump button pressed down.
• Hidden Pressure Traps: Many rooms contain directional arrows on the floor that abruptly alter your trajectory, or lethal electrified plates. Use neutral yellow cylindrical blocks to drop them over the sensors before stepping into the area.
• Life Support Time Factor: The cryogenic gauge constantly decreases at the bottom of the interface. Your absolute priority must be to activate the cores closest to the starting room to stabilize the colonists' vitality percentage before exploring the far edges of the ship.

Poster
The official poster artwork distributed originally alongside physical copies of the game by Ultimate Play the Game in 1985 is included. The image showcases the iconic metallic frame encasing the company's three-dimensional logo set against a stellar backdrop, accompanied by a planet eclipsed by the darkness of the cosmos.
Competition Voucher
A double promotional registration voucher printed on satin thermal paper with perforated scissor-cut lines (*Competition Entry Voucher*), included by the British publisher within the 1985 packaging. The official document served as a physical receipt and legitimate proof of purchase, exclusive for entering the contests and prize draws organized in collaboration with Ultimate Play the Game during Alien 8's launch window.
