Description
Originally published in 1987 by the legendary studio Dinamic Software, "Fernando Martín Basket Master" is unanimously considered one of the founding milestones of the Golden Age of Spanish Software. Programmed by Víctor Ruiz with outstanding artwork by Julio Martín Erro, it was the very first video game in Spain to feature an official license from a world-class elite sports star: the legendary center Fernando Martín, who had just made his historic debut in the American NBA. The game delivers an intense one-on-one (1vs1) basketball court experience, simulating with remarkable fidelity personal fouls, shot-clock violations, free throws, and the spectacular slam dunks that made the Real Madrid icon famous.

Although the original software conquered major systems of the time such as the Amstrad CPC, ZX Spectrum, and MSX, the Amstrad PCW office platform suffered from a long-standing absence of this grand basketball simulator. Breaking through this old preservation barrier, dedicated developer Enrique G. Gálvez released a spectacular technical port in August 2026, optimized for both classic Amstrad PCW systems and the modular PCW# mini hardware. Relying on a solid rewrite of the CPC code base, this port shatters the monochrome monotony of office screens by implementing native hardware Mode 1, utilizing 4 simultaneous colors to provide stunning visual clarity to the ball, the players, and the tactical scoreboard.

The sports simulation is revolutionized in this edition thanks to full integration with DK'Sound hardware, introducing a brilliant audio upgrade: a digitalized sport announcer who calls out plays in real time! Complete with added options for digital joystick setups and fully optimized ball physics routines to eliminate keyboard matrix lag, this stands as an essential centerpiece for vintage sports preservation in the PCW scene.

Tactical Hints and Court Strategies
• Mastering the Free Throw Gauge: When fouled, hold down your fire action key while watching the gauge bar at the bottom. Release it exactly at the center milestone to guarantee a perfect 1-point free throw strike.

• Exploit Short IA Mechanics: When competing against advanced computer difficulty tiers, the Fernando Martín AI excels at blocking long-range perimeter shots. It is far more efficient to fake horizontal drives and perform slam dunks by jumping forcefully right under the rim.

• Foul Management: Dinamic's referee routines strictly penalize continuous reach-in body contact from behind. Accumulating five personal fouls leads to instant ejection, causing an immediate sporting "Game Over."

• Audio and Video Settings: Make sure to launch the software with active DK'Sound peripheral emulation on your setup to experience court crowd chants and the custom digitalized sport announcer audio routines for the very first time.
