Description
The legendary "Game Over" stands as one of the masterworks from the Golden Age of Spanish Software. Originally designed in 1987 by the iconic Madrid-based studio Dinamic Software, the project featured code direction by Nacho Ruiz, graphics by Santiago Morga (Snatcho) and Javier Cubedo, along with an everlasting cover illustrated by fantasy master Luis Royo—which sparked substantial controversy and censorship in the British market due to its aesthetic details. The plot plunges us into an epic space rebellion: we step into the shoes of Arkos, a commander betrayed by the ruthless Empress Gremla of the galactic confederation. Our critical mission is to infiltrate the military strongholds of the prison planet Spses to sabotage the tyrant's defenses and achieve vengeance through a direct, unforgiving side-scrolling and vertically advancing arcade format.

Historically, the video game achieved massive commercial success and was widely ported to 8-bit and 16-bit systems of the era, including ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC, Commodore 64, MSX, and even MS-DOS PCs. However, the Amstrad PCW office computer lineup remained devoid of this magnificent title for decades. Breaking this long-standing historical absence, dedicated developer Enrique G. Gálvez delivers an astonishing modern native conversion in August 2026, tailored for the entire PCW 8xxx/9xxx range and modern PCW# mini systems. This port's engine works technical wonders with the machine's video controller: it implements three exclusive monochrome display modes (Simple, Patterns, and an advanced Dither algorithm to smooth out gradients on real green phosphor screens) and provides native Mode 2 support on PCW Plus systems, unlocking a spectacular palette of 16 hardware-native colors.

Internally, the game's text entries and menus remain entirely in their original production language, English. To streamline the gameplay experience for today's standards and prevent unnecessary interruptions, this fantastic conversion eliminates the tedious old system of mandatory passwords required to progress through the campaign. Instead, it allows immediate, direct access to the demanding Phase 2 inside the cybernetic facility. This is an essential release that maximizes both physical and emulated storage systems within the PCW ecosystem.

Extras
Keyboard and Controls
This version optimizes keyboard matrix reading to prevent input lag or ghosting effects. The game features an initial menu allowing the user to select and completely redefine the keys to their preference. It includes native out-of-the-box support for digital joysticks via the classic DK'Tronics standard. The default controls are configured as follows:
Q Key:Jump / Move Upward (Redefinible)
A Key:Crouch / Drop Down Platforms (Redefinible)
O Key:Walk Leftward (Redefinible)
P Key:Walk Rightward (Redefinible)
SPACEBAR:Fire / Shoot Laser Weaponry (Redefinible)
Gameplay Hints and Crucial Notes
• Managing Movement Inertia: Arkos moves with a pronounced aerial and braking inertia. It is highly recommended to completely clear ground mines and fixed turrets by shooting from a crouched position before performing wide horizontal jumps.

• Monitor Filter Configuration: We suggest toggling between the custom graphics modes (Simple, Patterns, and Dither) implemented by Enrique Gálvez to significantly reduce eye strain on physical green phosphor screens and clearly spot incoming energy traps.

• Direct Phase Access: Unlike the classic 1980s Dinamic versions, this modern conversion eliminates the requirement for entering a secret code upon finishing the first segment. You can launch and tackle Phase 2 directly from the main game loader menu.

• Incompatibility with Classic POKEs: Since this release operates on an entirely redesigned game engine from 2026, traditional memory cheats and POKE commands published in vintage magazines (such as MicroHobby or Amstrad Semanal) are not applicable and will have no effect on the modern routines.
