Description
The cult classic from the golden age of Spanish software returns natively to the Amstrad PCW range with this outstanding technical port developed by HabiSoft in 2024. Originally designed by Emilio Pablo Salgueiro Torrado for the legendary publisher Dinamic Software in 1986, the title became a benchmark for platformers due to its brutal and pixel-perfect difficulty. Outside of Spain, the game was published in the United Kingdom by Codemasters under the title Vampire, featuring modified graphics for the charismatic protagonist to better suit the British market.

This exceptional conversion for Amstrad PCW delivers the ultimate hybrid "combo" version, addressing the aesthetic shortcomings of the original microcomputer versions. Using the machine code of the Amstrad CPC version as its logical base, HabiSoft has meticulously restored the main menu, fixed a corrupted graphic, and integrated the alternative British logo. Furthermore, in an unprecedented move, the original Phantomas sprite from the Sinclair ZX Spectrum edition has been ported over as an optional recolored alternative (resolving the historical paradox of the character appearing on the loading screen but not during gameplay), alongside the unforgettable theme music from the welcome menu.

Your mission takes place deep within the gloomy domains of Count Dracula. Taking on the role of the intrepid android Phantomas, you must infiltrate a massive fortified castle filled with deadly traps, monsters, and moving stakes. The ultimate goal is to locate and collect the sacred crosses scattered across the map, which will grant you the power needed to break into the vampire's coffin and destroy him. The entire game runs on an engine masterfully adapted both for classic monochrome monitors (via a refined alternative dithering pattern) and full-color graphical configurations on expanded hardware.

Survival Tips & Strategies (Verified)
• Mastering the Jump Mechanics: Unlike other arcade titles, Phantomas 2 features two distinct jump buttons. You must memorize the exact timing and distance required for high jumps versus long jumps to avoid falling into lethal mechanical spikes.

• Dk'Tronics Joystick Support: HabiSoft's port includes native compatibility with the classic Dk'Tronics interface for PCW. This guarantees a fast and precise directional response during the most demanding platforming screens without relying on the numpad.

• Enemy Movement Patterns: Bats and moving spikes follow strict, pixel-perfect cyclic routes. Stand still at the safe edges of a screen to analyze their trajectories before attempting any diagonal jumps.

• Mandatory Cross Collection: Do not try to reach the final crypt without clearing the intermediate sectors of the fortress. The game blocks access to Dracula's coffin if your sacred relic counter is incomplete.
